Cobb Symphony Orchestra Receives $15,000 Grant from Publix Super Market Charities Foundation, Inc.

COBB COUNTY, GA
- On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, Publix Super Markets Charities Foundation awarded the Cobb Symphony a $15,000 grant in recognition for their exceptional contributions to the community.

"We're honored to be recognized by an organization like Publix and are
genuinely grateful for their support of the arts. We plan to invest every
dime into further enhancing the CSO experience for everyone in our
community," says Todd Youngblood, Chair of the Board of Trustees.

"Everyone loves great music," notes Executive Director Brian Hermanson, "what the  Publix Super Markets Charities Foundation is recognizing is the Cobb Symphony's continual focus and innovative approach to making the Orchestra and all of its programs available and accessible to the community. We are honored to receive this grant."

The Cobb Symphony Orchestra 09-10 season is a significant and celebratory season: a very personal, milestone year for the organization as a whole. The Cobb Symphony Orchestra is surrounded by artists with whom the CSO has developed close relationships and programming that features music with deep meaning. The season, which also reflects the CSO's vision for the future, includes inventive, forward-thinking projects including the launch of the Cobb Symphony Orchestra Chamber Singers and a Composer's Concert featuring entirely new works written by local composers Robert Cronin (featuring Christina Smith, flute) and Jennifer Mitchell, coupled with everyone's favorite, Copland's Appalachian Spring.

The Cobb Symphony Orchestra strives to ensure artistic excellence in a diverse community that takes pride in the Orchestra's artistic success and feels a sense of ownership for the Orchestra. The Cobb Symphony is further dedicated to becoming a catalyst for community collaborations and for lifelong learning, using technology and other means to broaden the musical experience of current and future audiences.
